#FeesMustFall Has Made Me All Sorts Of Proud

Never in my life have I felt the fire that I have been feeling for this entire week. The students of South Africa have come together to fight escalating university fees. Man! What a time to be alive! I am so proud of the students of 2015 who have taken it upon themselves to try and correct the injustices of the past. Almost all South African Universities have been brought to a standstill by students protesting for low university tuition.

21 October 2015 was a very historic day all across South Africa with University of Cape Town students marching to Parliament where they were fired at by The South African Police Service. I and most of South Africa and Africa for that matter stand with the students

Some students have been arrested but the  marches go on and there is hope that the fees will indeed fall

I personally because I know what it feels like to not have money to study. I know what it feels like to be depressed because things are just not working out when all I wanted to do was study. I am glad that the students came together to fight an enemy that prevents us from obtaining quality education because education is just so Darn expensive

“Create, Design, Empower And Love Local” by Zambia Fashion Week

The Zambia Fashion Week is once again upon us with the 2015 edition to take place from 15-17 October. This year’s theme is “create, design, empower….love local” and all roads lead to the Mulungushi International conference Centre in Lusaka, Zambia. The Zambia Fashion Week can arguably boast to be a platform that has contributed to the growth of fashion, glamour and glitz.

Zambia Fashion Week 2014

Zambia Fashion Week 2014

50 designers took part in celebrating what was Zambia’s Jubilee independence anniversary last year with special guest Mustafa Hassanali from Tanzania. This year over 50 designers will be showcasing including 4 designers from Zimbabwe and the renowned David Tlale.

The show is about reaching out to the public, to emphasize and promote talents in the fashion industry. It’s more about valuing our own designers and building brands and taking them to greater heights each year. Their long-term goal as Zambia Fashion Week is to promote “fashion as a trade”, a concept whereby the fashion industry is seen locally as an income generating trade that creates direct and indirect revenue for both individuals and the country as whole, leading in part to poverty alleviation.

So if you are in Lusaka from tomorrow make sure that you attend the fashion week.
