28061376_10156251101009268_1434255635078466168_oBATUK consists of two very talented individuals, songstress Manteiga and producer and rapper Spoek Mathambo and they have released Move!, their latest single which has a very dope music video. Batuk is Manteiga’s collaboration with established electronic music producer Spoek Mathambo.

Move! is an ode to the township roots that shaped the members of Batuk. Hailing from Maputo and Johannesburg respectively, artist and musician Manteiga, brings a unique fusion of Mozambican and South African flair to her music and art. The music is vibrant and energetic, while being culturally rich. The Move! music video is a pop of bright colours and a chilled session for siblings and friends showing off their dance moves to each other. The video starts of with Manteiga playing a video game on TV, then she is interrupted by a young girl who then starts dancing and soon the different parts of the house sees the “sisters” break out in dance moves while looking so gorgeous like they just stepped out of a fashion lookbook. The music video is visually appealing and the stylist really did a good job in marrying the outfits with the set.

To me Move! has a mix of Kwaito and a lil bit of new age Hip Hop and I really love the sound. It is definitely the song I will listen to while working on creative projects and on a drive. Batuk will release their second album “Kasi Royalty” in May 2018, Kasi Royalty  is largely inspired by deep house and kwaito.

Watch the music video here and tell me what you think.

I am an avid traveler with a background in copywriting, social media management, art exhibition and music festival curation. I am a huge bookworm who not only enjoys getting lost in books, but I also enjoy writing on topics such as travel, art and fashion. I am interested in working in any projects relating to copywriting for small businesses, fiction writing, curating exhibitions for visual artists in Africa. I am also keen to work with small businesses in developing their social media strategies. Africa is my first love and I am currently having a great time exploring her.
